Now this is lovely: Innovation in the intercultural field is to be applauded. There are a lot of great people out there who have great ideas , they don’t alway come to fruition. Recently, the wonderful, dynamic young rising star of the intercultural world, Hannah Lambeck, told me about this idea that she has put into practice for people planning to go to a Latin American country.
Imagine you are going to a foreign country for a while, you are not sure what awaits you, you are often a mixture of anticipation, excitement and a little nervous. Hannah has created a calendar, the Fernwehcalendar – which reframes that; a calendar for the 31 days before you go abroad, with exciting information each day about the country you are going to. This is a charming way to find out about your destination country and to increase your sense of excitement and anticipation to help you look forward to your stay abroad.
This is a real thing, not just an online calendar. Great, I think, as a gift, for example, for intercultural trainers to give to their clients, the icing on the cake for their preparatory training or coaching.
The focus is currently on Latin America and the calendars are in German, which is a great place to start, and as demand grows the sky really is the limit in terms of countries and languages.
Anyway, a fabulous innovation, well done Hannah, thank you for taking the initiative on this. To find out more, pop along to www.fernwehkalender.de
